Ancient Wisdom Distillery is an award-winning Australian whisky and spirits distillery based in Pakenham, Victoria, southeast of Melbourne.
We create distinctive Australian single malt whisky, botanical gin and premium vodka, combining traditional distillation with innovative barrel maturation and flavour development.
At the heart of our range are our 8-year-old Australian single malt whiskies, matured in carefully selected French Oak Chardonnay, American Oak Pinot Noir, Bourbon and Tawny Port casks.
Our passion for experimentation has also created our unique Coffee Cask Whisky and Chocolate Cask Whisky, exploring how coffee and cocoa-seasoned oak can transform whisky through maturation.

Our vision is simple: create Australian spirits with genuine character.
Our whisky begins with pristine Blue Mountains spring water and locally brewed wort, fermented under our supervision and double-distilled in copper pot stills before beginning its long journey in oak.
We believe the barrel should do more than simply hold whisky—it should help create it.
Our Chardonnay casks develop orchard fruit, citrus, honey and creamy oak. Pinot Noir casks bring cherry, plum, vanilla and dark chocolate. Bourbon barrels contribute caramel, vanilla and toasted oak, while Tawny Port casks create rich dried-fruit, toffee and dark-chocolate characteristics.
Our Coffee and Chocolate Whiskies take this philosophy even further, using specially seasoned barrels to create flavours rarely found in traditional whisky.
The same spirit of experimentation runs through our Botanical Gin, Barrel Aged Gin and Australian Reserve Vodka.

Ancient Wisdom's approach has been shaped by our experience in wine making, fermentation, distillation and barrel maturation.
Our core Australian single malt whiskies mature for 8 years, allowing the spirit, oak and previous character of each barrel to develop together over time.
Every cask behaves differently. The type of oak, its previous contents and years of maturation all influence the final whisky.
This understanding of barrels has led us from traditional Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Bourbon and Tawny Port casks to more experimental coffee and cocoa-seasoned oak.
Our approach to gin follows the same philosophy of flavour. Our Dry Botanical Gin is led by green cardamom, black cardamom and fennel seed, balanced with juniper and citrus—a combination that helped earn it Best Victorian Contemporary Gin in 2024.
From our distillery in Pakenham, Victoria, we continue to combine traditional craftsmanship with experimentation to create Australian spirits with their own identity.
